Great American Quarter Horse
The quarter horse excels in many pursuits, given its strength, endurance and quickness. It's also renown for its temperament -- very calm, smart and loyal. Early American colonists crossed English horses with Chickasaw Ponies (originating from Spanish and Barb stock), for work and recreation. Even against thoroughbreds, the small horse always won in quarter-mile races, hence their name. In the 1800s, pioneers heading West wanted a hardy, willing horse. With the quarter horse's innate "cow sense," its popularity grew out West. In 1940, the American Quarter Horse Association
was formed. We are members of & our horses are registered with
the AQHA. They are intelligent and athletic, with a super disposition
and excellent bloodlines. |
